Nerida Kinross-Smith

Nerida has 30+ years’ experience in mental health, having trained as a clinical psychologist. She has previously worked in rehabilitation; community health with children and families; the education sector in assessment of learning and developmental difficulties ; such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), school and family interventions connected with parenting and behaviour/mental health issues in children and adolescents; adult assessment of developmental issues and learning difficulties; couples therapy and in private practice specialising in trauma treatment. She is a registered supervisor with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency) for psychology interns, post-graduate psychology students and psychologists seeking clinical specialisation, and can also offer supervision to other allied health professionals. She provides services to WorkCover, TAC, NDIS clients and to some Employee Assistance Program (EAP) clients.
Nerida’s treatment approaches include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment-focussed therapy, compassion therapy, schema therapy, clinical hypnosis, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), internal family systems (IFS), solution-focussed therapy, mindfulness techniques and support during grief and loss. She currently offers therapy only with adults, and adolescents over the age of 16 years.
She provides a holistic and individualised approach, while offering unconditional positive regard and confidentiality within highly ethical professional standards. She believes in strength of the therapeutic relationship and multi-disciplinary professional collaboration (where appropriate) as best supporting healing and positive change. Nerida brings compassion and empathy to her practice – believing she can only take her clients as far on their healing journey as she has been herself. She is committed to helping people develop their best selves – in mental and physical health; social connection and ongoing personal growth.
